Statement Of Faith
From time to time,
visitors or others will ask: “What do you believe and teach in this
fellowship?” The following list is a summary of some of the key
beliefs most people want to understand, along with some of the
relevant Scriptures that serve as a basis for these beliefs. If
anyone has questions about any of these statements, or other
doctrinal issues not mentioned here, we encourage you to ask the
pastor in the fellowship.
-
That the Bible is the inspired Word of God
and the only infallible and authoritative guide to Christian life and
service.
II Timothy 3:15,16; I Peter 2:2
-
That there is one, and only one God,
eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and
God the Holy Spirit.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Mark
12:29; John 5:17-30
-
That the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ is
manifest in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in
His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His
ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal future
return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations.
Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 7:26; Acts 2:22; I
Corinthians 15:3,4; Acts 1:9-11
-
That man was created good and upright, but
man voluntarily sinned and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual
death, which is separation from God.
Genesis 1:26,27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans
5:12-19
-
That the only means of our being cleansed
from sin is through repentance and through faith in the precious blood
of Christ. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for
personal salvation.
Luke 24:47; Romans 8:16; 10:13-15;
Titus 2:11; 3:5-7
-
That the baptism in the Holy Spirit is
granted to all believers who ask for it; that this experience is
distinct from and follows the new birth; that it was the normal
experience of the New Testament Christians; and that it brings an
enduement of power for Christian living and service.
Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 2:4: 10:44-46;
15:8,9
-
That the 'five fold' ministry offices are
still in operation today as stated in Ephesians 4:11. That the gifts of
the Holy Spirit as outlined in I Cor. 12 are manifest today in the life
of believers as is the fruit of the Spirit.
Gal. 5:22,23
(Furthermore we DO NOT
believe that certain gifts passed away on the completion of Scripture)
-
That Christ’s death on the cross provides
healing for the human body, in answer to believing prayer.
Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:16,17; James
5:14-16
-
That the Scriptures teach a life of
holiness, sanctification being separation from that which is evil and a
dedication unto God; that all believers should earnestly pursue
sanctification by walking in obedience to God’s word; and that the
Christian is able to live a godly life by the indwelling of the Holy
Spirit.
Hebrews 12:14; I Peter 1:15,16;
Philemon 2:12,13
-
That all who have truly repented and
believed in Christ as Lord and Saviour are commanded to be baptised by
immersion in water.
Matt. 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Acts
2:38-39.
-
That all who have truly repented and
believe in Christ as Lord and Saviour should regularly participate in
Breaking of Bread.
Luke 22:14-20; 1 Cor.
11:20-34.
-
We believe in the bodily resurrection
of all men, the everlasting conscious bliss of all who truly believe
in our Lord Jesus Christ and the everlasting conscious punishment of
all whose names are not written in the Book of Life.
Dan. 12:2-3; John 5:28-29, 1 Cor.
15:22-24; Matt. 25:46; 2 Thess. 1:9; Rev. 20:10-15.
-
We believe, in Christ, joint authority
of all believers is restored to it's pre fall state and that all
believers {male and female} are equally called to all areas of
ministry.
Galatians 3:28; examples
throughout Scripture of women in leadership
We do not believe........
In anything other than salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ
alone.
Nor do we support any groups
pertaining to wicca, new age, goddess worship, or salvation by works.
We DO NOT believe that Mary was anything other than greatly used of God,
and do not support any belief in her being co-mediatrix with Christ or
able in any other way to intercede for the saints, {all believers}.
Jesus Christ is the ONE mediator between God and man. (1 Timothy 2:5)
